Anglo Irish Challenge at Dowth Hall

The Anglo-Irish Challenge has quickly become one of the most popular fixtures on the calendar despite its short history.

The annual jockey’s competition, which pits the best of Irish and British point-to-point jockeys against each other in a team event, rotates annually between host venues in either countries.

With the Irish on top-form at last season’s event which was held in Kingston Blount, attention now turns to this season’s event which will be staged at Dowth Hall point-to-point in County Louth on Sunday October 29th. As the event takes place ahead of the UK point-to-point season kick-starting, it is hoped that there will be a large travelling contingent to support the British team.

Dowth Hall is one of the most accessible Irish point-to-points for overseas visitors with its location within 30-minutes of Dublin Airport, which boasts direct flights to over 22 British Airports alone.

Here are some of the route and airlines operating into Dublin Airport from Britain:
Aer Lingus – Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester.
Aer Lingus Regional – Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester, Newcaslte, Newquay.
British Airways – London Heathrow, London City.
CityJet – London City.
Flybe – Cardiff, Doncaster/Sheffield, Exeter, Southampton, London Southend.
Loganair – Inverness.
Ryanair – Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Stansted, London Luton, Manchester, Newcastle.

The Dowth Hall point-to-point and country fair is expected to attract 7,000 people this year and has everything for all the family, with a country fair, shopping village, free kids zone and much more attractions to compliment the on-track racing action.
