William (Billy) Patton RIP

William (Billy) Patton RIP

We at P2P.ie are sorry to have learned of the death of former handler Billy Patton.

Billy was a very popular figure within point-to-pointing, particularly on the northern circuit, and his family have lifelong ties with the sport, stretching across a number of generations.

Billy’s own son, Robert, who is best known now as the Managing Director of leading firm Old Mill Saddlery, was a former champion jockey in the northern region, whilst Jonjo Bright is a grandson of Billy.

We extend our sincere condolences to Billy’s family and friends at this time.

Details of Billy’s funeral arrangements have been published below:

Passed away November 10, 2017, peacefully, at his daughter’s home, in his 91st year, beloved husband of Kathleen, loving and devoted father of Robert and Jayne and brother of Sammy and sister Suzie.

A service of thanksgiving for William’s life will be held in Magheramorne Presbyterian Church, on Sunday 12th at 12.00 noon and afterwards to Islandmagee New Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, to The Injured Jockey’s Fund c/o S&J Irvine Funeral Directors (cheques made payable to above charity please).

Will be very sadly missed by his wife, son, daughter and entire family circle.

Too good in life to be forgotten in death.
