Fenno's Storm lands Tetratema Hunter Chase for Queally team

Fenno's Storm lands Tetratema Hunter Chase for Queally team

Fenno’s Storm registered his first win under rules when he scored in the Tetratema Cup Hunters Steeplechase at Gowran Park under Declan Queally who won this race in 2014 aboard Loch Dara.

The son of September Storm was a winner at Bandon at the end of February when he beat Murdo Mackenzie by three lengths and in doing so provided Queally with his 200th point-to-point winner in the saddle.

Carrying the colours of Maurice Walsh, the Declan Queally-trained winner got off the mark in point-to-points at Dungarvan 12 months ago in a confined maiden and followed that up with a further two success’ in points last season.

The seven-year-old was at the head of affairs for much of the 3m1f contest and was joined turning into the straight by the eventual runner up Venitien De Mai who presented a strong challenge to the winner at the final fence but a strong drive from Queally managed to get Fenno’s Storm up in time to win by half a length.

The Lisa O’Neill ridden runner-up Venitien De Mai was a winner in November at Lingstown over the banks and then went onto to finish second to Gilgamboa in the hunter chase at Down Royal.

A further 12 lengths back in third was My Murphy who has now finished third in his last three starts in hunter chases.
