Second French Point-to-Point to take place in May

Second French Point-to-Point to take place in May

Following the success of the first ever French point-to-point last August, organisers have decided to run a second meeting which will take place on the 05th May on the farm of La Maroutière in Château-Gontier which is situated in north western France. The event will be run in partnership with France Galop and Arqana.

The idea for the event first came about as the leading French National Hunt trainer Emmanuel Clayeux looked for alternative ideas to build upon a successful Owners Day in 2015, and he wanted to re-create the atmosphere that he has seen at Point-to-Point meetings in both Ireland and the UK.

The obstacles were arranged throughout the course, with fences of English types but also French and natural obstacles with races ranging from 1m6f- 2m7f.

This springs event will see the 1st race take place at 11:30 and there are nine races scheduled  to take place which includes three pony races as well as the Grand Cross Of The Clochers which is part of the Gentlemen's League. A maximum of eight horses will be allowed to line-up for each race.

The following is a list of international gentlemen-riders available to ride on the day as well as some other amateurs who have applied to take part in the action.
