Diamond Boy's Progeny Scores on Debut

Diamond Boy's Progeny Scores on Debut

Kilbarry Lodge stud’s resident stallion Diamond Boy (pictured) sired another impressive winner at Lignigres in France on Sunday when Farid won on his debut.

The three-year-old made a winning start when he took the 1m4f bumper in the well-known colours of Irish point-to-point owner Walter Connors.

Other winners this season by Diamond Boy includes the Gordon Elliot-trained Diamond Turf who was a faller at Horse and Jockey last March before finishing third at Limerick in December on his bumper debut and followed this run up with a nine length win in a bumper at Navan in January.

Diamond Boy has had one point-to-point runner to date, Valdieu, who won the four-year-old maiden at The Pigeons last season for the Gigginstown House stud team and who has since finished second in a bumper at Navan in November behind Invincible Cave.

Other performers on the track by Diamond Boy include Grade 3 hurdle winner, Don’t Hesitate, Le Precieux, and the Grade 3 placed Viola St Goustan.

His stock have been bought by names such as Liss House and Lakefield Farm, Mount Eaton, Monamore stables and Bobby O’Ryan. At the Goffs UK May sale last year, Mouse Morris bought a three-year-old gelding by the up-and-coming sire for £100,000.

A son of Mansonnien, Diamond Boy is a half-brother to the three-time Grade 1 winner, Golden Silver and won five races for Francois Doumen as well as being placed on a further four starts ranging from a mile and four to a mile and seven.

Diamond Boy retired to stud in France in 2012.
