Famous Saying another for O'Hare and Meade

Famous Saying another for O'Hare and Meade

The great run of success that Mark O’Hare and Noel Meade are enjoying together shows no sign of slowing up, as the pair combined once again to land the P2P.ie Geldings’ point-to-point bumper at Tipperary on Thursday evening with Famous Saying.

Second to Envious Editor in his only outing between the flags when under the care of Pat Doyle, the Fame And Glory gelding joined Meade’s Co. Meath yard after being purchased for £50,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham February sale.

That looks money well spent, as the four-year-old joined the favourite Billaway early in the home straight, before racing his way to the front along the stand-side rail, and from that point he stuck to his task in game style to prevail by four lengths.

Carrying the colours of Robert Watson, Famous Saying follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner Fabulous Saga by getting his head in front in the 2m2f contest, with his success providing the winning rider with his fifth winner in the past seven days, four of whom have come on horses trained by Meade.

The 5/2 shot becomes the second son of Fame And Glory that ran in a four-year-old point-to-point for Doyle this spring, to come out and win his bumper, following on from the impressive victory of Commander Of Fleet in the Goffs Land Rover bumper at the Punchestown Festival.
