Arctic Cosmos's Progeny Enjoys Bumper Success

Arctic Cosmos's Progeny Enjoys Bumper Success

The Old Road stud’s resident stallion Arctic Cosmos (pictured) sired another impressive winner on Wednesday when Akarita Lights won on his third start at Kelso.

The four-year-old had finished runner-up on his debut at Newcastle in March before following this run up with another second placed finish at Market Rasen in April.

Trained by John Quinn, Akarita Lights appeared to be travelling well on the turn into the home straight when he stumbled at the two furlong point before staying on well again inside the final furlong to win by a length and a quarter, providing former Irish flat rider, Conor King with his second National Hunt success in the saddle.

This was Arctic Cosmos’s second bumper winner from a small crop of runners following the Charles Byrnes-trained Von Humboldt’s debut victory in a bumper at Punchestown in February.

His stock have been bought by names such as Ken Parkhill, Gerry Hogan and Richard Rohan and he will be represented at next week’s Tattersalls Ireland May store sale as well as at the Derby and Landrover sale in June.

A son of North Light, Arctic Cosmos won from a mile and one to a mile and six which includes victory in the 2010 Group 1 St. Ledger at Doncaster for his trainer, John Gosden.

Arctic Cosmos retired to stud in Ireland in 2013.

He currently stands at:

Tallow,
