Some Response amongst initial entries for Downpatrick Hunter Chase

12 entries have been made for the King & Boyd Solicitors hunter chase at Downpatrick on Friday.

2017’s renewal was an eventful contest where by eight of the 11 runners came down on the turn before the first fence.

The Brian Hamiliton-trained Some Response (pictured) was an easy winner on his last three starts at Largy and Loughanmore and could have big claims should he line up for his connections.

Sizing Rome was the recent winner of the Peggy Hagan Memorial Hunters Chase at Down Royal for the Jim Dreaper yard which was his first success since winning his five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Kirkistown in March 2017.

The six-year-olds runner up at Down Royal, Eddies Miracle, is also amongst entries for the David Christie team.

The six-time winning pointer registered his first win under rules when he scored in the Daily Mirror hunter chase at Down Royal on the 19th March and then travelled to Aintree where he was one of three Irish runners to take part in the Foxhunters and unseated his rider at the ninth fence.

The Gerard Kelleher-trained Macs Legend was a comfortable winner of the Tramore Hunter chase having ran a creditable race at Cork in a hunter chase where he finished only one length runner-up to Oscar Contender.

The 10-year-old was most recently seen at Tipperary last Thursday in the hunter chase where he finished sixth to Maybeywhoknowsmaybey.

Ajijic from the Michael Winters yard ran a solid race at Tipperary to finish 13 lengths in third on what was his first start in hunter chase company.
