Popular Killeagh fixture set to move to Boulta in 2019

The Killeagh point-to-point committee have announced that their upcoming race meeting will be moving away from their long-standing track at Killeagh.

The course had been home to their point-to-point for 35 years and was a very popular course on the Cork-Waterford circuit, attracting a big crowd to the fixture each year.

The 2019 meeting, which will take place on Sunday January 20th will now be run at Boulta. It will also ensure that it will be the third meeting to run at the Cork course within the space of a six-week period beginning with the United Clonmult/Dungourney fixture on December 9th.

In a statement released concerning the change of course, the point-to-point committee said: “Regretfully, the lands at Knockane have become unavailable, but the Killeagh Point to Point Committee wish to thank the Hennessy Family for racing on their lands for 35 years.

“It was always known as a great viewing track for spectators and there was some great racing there over the years. For this we are very grateful.

“Over recent months, a sub-committee has been setup to try to find a new permanent home for our local races but time has caught up on us for the 2019 meeting. Therefore, we will run our 2019 race meeting at Boulta, Ballynoe, Co. Cork on the lands of Mr and Mrs Gerard Mulcahy whom we thank for keeping our local fixture alive.”
