TRACK GUIDE
A gently turning galloping track that has hosted point-to-point racing since 2001, the runners begin at Kilfeacle just after the winning post and bypass the fence past the winning post to take a left-handed bend on an extended run to fence one which is jumped along the side of the course. Runners then turn left-handed once again and quickly arrive at fence two, which is the only fence jumped along the back straight.
That ensures that there is a long run between fences two and three, with the runners racing downhill before eventually turning once again to race along the side of the course where fence three is located. The track begins to rise as the runners take the home bend and climb to fence four in the home straight, with a relatively short run-in before the runners then pass the winning post and take fence five to complete a lap of Kilfeacle.
Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner First Lieutenant won his maiden at the course as a five-year-old, a race also won in 2017 by subsequent graded winner On The Blind Side.

Kilfeacle is a big circuit and one of the toughest tracks around. As it is staged in January, the ground tends to be very soft around here.
I think it is one of the better tracks and a lot of good horses have won around here including First Lieutenant.
There is a long pull over the last few fences, so you need a good horse to win around here. I like to drop in, as the racing tends to start in earnest from the third-last.
