TRACK GUIDE

Point-to-Point racing was revived at Liscarroll in 1954, and it has remained a popular venue on the circuit ever since, most commonly associated with Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Denman, who won his maiden as a five-year-old in 2005.

A left-handed course dominated by two long straights, for the 2022 fixture, racing reverted to the old course, the track itself remains unchanged, however both the starting line and finish line will now be on the lower side of the course.

I have always found that this layout at Liscarroll presented a good, fair test for a horse. There is a long home straight where you jump two fences.

You always want to have a horse with a good level of ability going to Liscarroll, and I think it suits a horse with a bit of pace as you need to be able to quicken.
