TRACK GUIDE

Tipperary Racecourse played host to the annual Scarteen Foxhounds point-to-point from 1985 through to 2000 and they return there in April 2021 following the conditions set by the Irish government for the resumption of point-to-pointing following the Covid-19 pandemic which stipulated that they much initially take place on HRI-approved racecourses.

Formerly known as Limerick Junction owing to the train station that is located adjacent to the course, the track which has hosted racing since 1916 was renamed Tipperary Racecourse in 1986.

A staple of the summer racing programme as a dual purpose track which operates between April and October, it features Graded action over obstacles and Group action on the flat.

The track hosts a popular point-to-point evening card each May and in March 2021 was one of three tracks to host an all point-to-point bumper card when the point-to-point season was suspended due to nationwide Covid restrictions.
