Race 1: Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham 4yo Maiden
Previews
Weekend Preview | Tinahely
Thirteen newcomers have been entered for this four-year-old maiden alongside the Cragmore fourth Get Busy Living who will be looking to put his experience to good use. Colin Bowe, who has saddled winners in this age division for two of the past three weeks of the new four-year-old campaign, is responsible for four entries in a race that has thrown up some nice types in recent years. The market will give the best guide as to what is expected from this newcomers.
Race 2: The Magee Family 5yo Geldings Maiden
Go Whatever was unable to follow up his close third at Kilfeacle when a beaten favourite at Knockanard last weekend, and so preference goes to the Peter Flood-trained ENJOY DALLEN. The expensive Derby Sale purchase did not enjoy the most straight forward of passages over the course of the final mile on his debut at Ballinaboola recent, but still finished a fine second and can improve here. Eglantino Kauto finished placed in a four-year-old maiden on the opening weekend of the season and is back from a mid-season break, whilst Treacys Jim finished fourth in a big field maiden at Dungarvan on debut.
Race 3: The John Durkan Memorial Open
KRUZHLININ has taken all before him in points this season, and he effortlessly came through the biggest test that he has been set between the flags at Kirkistown most recently. Already a winner around here in November and January, he will be the one to beat as he goes in search of a seventh success of the season. Sizing Coal finished in front of him when the pair chased home Stand Up And Fight at Down Royal over Christmas and is obviously a big threat, with stablemates Venitien De Mai and Cavite Beta others capable of entering the mix alongside Drawn N Drank, All Hell Let Loose and Roadie Joe.
Race: John R. Fitzpatrick - Agricultural Contractor 5yo Mares Maiden
SUBTLE QUEST is long overdue a maiden success following five consecutive placed finishes including at Ballinaboola earlier in the month, having finished in front of the potentially re-opposing Saedhbhs Delight on that occasion. Cream Sparkles took a step forward in a small field Kirkistown maiden earlier in the month, Uppertown Poppie was brought to a standstill at Punchestown last Sunday and can be excused that non-completion, whilst The Kitchenmecanic has previously finished second around here in January.
Race 5: Fitzpatrick, Gallagher, McEvoy Solicitors Winner Of Two
WOODBROOK BOY doubled his tally with a first success on Irish soil around here last month and he could well bring up the hat-trick in this contest for an in-form stable that were among the winners last weekend. Spanish Leather won well at Ballinaboola and can be expected to step up, whilst Toomebridge four-year-old winner Golden Nomad will be looking to bounce back from the comprehensive defeat that he suffered on his return to action at Cragmore a fortnight ago.
Race 6: Kent Carty Solicitors & Frank & Martin ODonnell 6yo Geldings Maiden (Nov Rdrs)
DORAN THE LEGEND failed to land a gamble at Ballyvodock at the beginning of the month, when a mistake at the last saw him surrender the lead. His supporters will be hoping to recoup their losses here. Goldazar lost out to a more experienced rival at Kirkistown when making his debut in a very competitive looking maiden and he stands out as the obvious alternative. Tintern Trails can be forgiven a costly mistake at Knockanard last weekend, whilst Bronco Bill produced arguably his best run of the season at Oldstown recently and is another for the shortlist.
