AS IT HAPPENED Cheltenham February Sale

The first Irish point-to-point four-year-old maiden winners of 2019 came under the hammer at today’s Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham February sale.

12 months ago it was the five-year-old Bellharbour winner Dlauro that proved to be the most in-demand horse when he claimed top billing from a sale that also featured the Ballinaboola four-year-old maiden winner Envoi Allen.

Selling for £410,000 on that occasion, the top price was matched 12 months on by the Cragmore four-year-old maiden winner Wide Receiver, who like recent leading point-to-pointing graduates Envoi Allen and Malone Road, was picked-up by Tom Malone and Gordon Elliott.

In all, nine Irish point-to-point graduates made six figure prices with four of these realising sums in excess of £200,000 further highlighting once again the current demand for high quality Irish point-to-point horses.
