Irish point graduates enjoyed another successful weekend in UK points recording a total of 20 wins. The winners came from 18 different handlers that are based in Ireland.
Below we take a closer look at some of these winning former Irish pointers.
PARHAM, WEST SUSSEX
The former Irish pointer, SHANOULE WOOD, has had two good runs for Hannah Clarke in UK points this season. Finishing second on his seasonal debut at Godstone and winning last Saturday in the open maiden at Parham. The son of Craigsteel was handled by Kieran Roche in 2017 and ran in nine Irish points.
HUTTON RUDBY, YORKSHIRE
The Jessica Bedi-trained IRON CHANCELOR recorded his ninth UK point success when winning the ladies open on Saturday at Hutton Rudby. The 14-year-old son of Alderbrook enjoyed two point wins in Ireland back in 2010 when Paul Patrick Moloney handled the gelding.
BUCKFASTLEIGH, DEVON
CLOUDY MUSIC was second on three of her four starts in Irish points for Mark Scallan in March last year. Dean Summersby then purchased the daughter of Cloudings for €13,500 in May. The six-year-old has gone on to win two of her four starts for Summersby in UK points this season.
FRIARS HAUGH, BORDERS
The six-runner open race went to the Gavin Hamilton-trained WAYUPINTHESKY, marking the geldings fourth UK point win to date. The former Irish pointer won three times when handled by Dr Joseph O'Keeffe from 2012 to 2015.
HIGH EASTER, ESSEX
BIG GEORGIE brought his tally up to seven wins in UK points when taking the men's open race for James Ridley. The Exit To Nowhere gelding has enjoyed seven seasons running in UK points. Donal O'Brien handled the gelding in Ireland where he finished second on his four-year-old debut in the hands of Colin Motherway.
Trained by Nicholas Wright, BURTREDGIPANDGUMP, enjoyed success in the conditions nine and up race on Sunday. The ten-year-old has recorded two victories to date this season in UK points. Philip Dempsey started the horses career in Irish points back in 2013.
The John Ibbott-trained RACING EAGLE finally got his head in front at High Easter after finishing second on his three previous starts in UK points. The seven-year-old ran out an eight length winner in the seven runner maiden race. Con O'Keeffe previously handled this former Irish pointer back in 2016 and 2017. The son of Scorpion finished seventh on both of his point starts in Ireland when under the care of O'Keeffe.
BRAFIELD-ON-THE-GREEN, NORTHHAMPSHIRE
The seven-year-old, KING OF THE CLOTHE, secured back to back success in UK points when winning on Sunday for Tom Ellis. The son of Milan was handled by Donnchadh Doyle in Ireland last year when placing in four of his five runs in Irish points.
Sean Doyle, brother to Donnchadh Doyle, handled REBEL DAWN RISING when pointing in Ireland. The five-year-old son of Getaway scored an eleven-length victory in the open race for trainer and owner David Kemp on Sunday.
