Yeats enjoys eleventh success in points this season

The seven-time group 1 winner Yeats enjoyed another point-to-point winner on Sunday at Liscarroll when the Sam Curling-trained Forthegreatergood won the five-year-old mares' maiden in the hands of Derek O'Connor.

Second on both of her previous starts, beaten just one-and-a-half lengths on those occasions, the mare showed her experience to claim a comprehensive six-length victory.

Yeats has gone on to enjoy great success with his pointing progeny in recent years with the likes of Shattered Love, De Rasher Counter, Reikers Island and Mega Yeats.

Owned by Gigginstown House Stud Shattered Love won her point-to-point debut at Lemonfield back in March 2015 for Pat Doyle in the hands of Derek O'Connor.

The mare subsequently went to Gordon Elliott and has recorded 8 successes under rules to date including victories in the Grade 1 JLT novices' chase at Cheltenham and the Grade 1 Neville Hotels novices' chase at Leopardstown in 2018.

De Rasher Counter, trained by Emma Lavelle, has enjoyed three wins under rules. The gelding won his final run in Irish points by eight lengths back in February 2017 for Tom Keating and Roger Quinlan.

Another Yeats gelding handled by Tom Keating that has gone on to achieve success under rules is Reikers Island. The bay gelding won on his fourth point start as a four-year-old in the hands of Liam Quinlan.

Now trained by Philip Hobbs, Reikers Island has recorded two wins on the track for his owner James Drummond in the UK.

The five-year-old mare Mega Yeats has won three of her five starts when running under rules in the UK for Ruth Jefferson. The daughter of Yeats was an impressive four-year-old debut winner at Monksgrange last April for Wexford duo Donnchadh Doyle and Rob James.

Yeats stands at Castlehyde Stud for a fee of €5,000 in 2019.
