Colin Bowe enjoyed a hugely successful weekend which kicked off with a double on Friday evening. The first of the Kiltealy handler’s successes came when Frilly Frock won the Diageo five-year-old mares' maiden in the hands of Barry O'Neill.

Having been narrowly denied a week earlier at Broughshane, the daughter of Mahler gained compensation here when defeating the Denis Murphy-trained runner-up Rarest Diamond.

The victory marked the start of an exceptional weekend for the Bowe/O'Neill partnership who also went on to record a treble the following day and he said: “She had plenty of placed form and deserved to win today.  She is a genuine mare, jumps well, has a great attitude and is now entered for the Doncaster sales."

Bowe brought up his double in the Quinn Building Products six-year-old and upwards mares' maiden with Oscar Bonnie under Jordan Gainford.

The daughter of Oscar, who was had chased home Lexi’s Warrior at Monksgrange late last month, managed to go one better when denying the Pat Kearns-trained Killimorrie by two-and-a-half lengths.

The seven-year-old, who was purchased for £4,000 in March, will now be campaigned in winner’s company following her maiden success which proved to be a second career victory for Gainford.

The young rider who hails from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, has been with Colin Bowe for the last two year. The winning handler said: “We bought her out of Ascot and she had plenty of experience.  Jordan (Gainford) is a tough jockey and rode a great race.”

Denis Murphy and Jamie Codd combined to take the Albert Bartlett five-year-old geldings’ maiden when Lifeisahighway found success at the fifth time of asking.

Having cost £27,000 as a three-year-old, the son of Court Cave ran out a comfortable five-length winner over Peter Flood’s A Ladies Milan.

The winning handler said: “He has had some nice runs but we made the mistake a few times of running him on bottomless ground which just doesn’t suit him.  He should win plenty of races and will head to Doncaster in a few weeks.”

The Wexford partnership of Donnchadh Doyle and Rob James secured the Devenish Nutrition four-year-old mares’ maiden with Lady Tremaine.

The daughter of Kalanisi, who had been placed twice previously, ran out an easy winner in the end when defeating the Ian McCarthy-trained I'll Be That Lady by seven lengths.

The £8,000 Goffs UK store sale purchase was acquired by the winning handler and his youngest brother Gearoid last year, and connections indicated that she will now be offered for sale.

Cormac Doyle, brother of the winning handler said; "In fairness to her she is a tough mare, she looks good and she did that well. My brothers Gearoid (Doyle) and Donnchadh (Doyle) bought her from a good friend of ours Richard Busher from Wexford at the sales last year.”

Sam Curling’s good season continued when he added the Fermanagh Collar and Buttons ladies open to his season’s haul with Sound Money.

The Zamindar gelding made all to deny the odds-on favourite Gordon Elliot-trained Kruzhlinin, who was seeking his tenth victory of the season, however it also could prove to be an important winner for Maxine O’Sullivan as it leaves her just one winner behind Susie Doyle in the race to become this season’s leading lady rider.

The seven-year-old, who was trained by Rory O’Meara prior to running in a hunter chase at Cork over Easter, is now set to re-appear at Ballingarry on the final weekend of the season, and it was her former handler that said: “I’m delighted with that success.  We thought the hunter chase at Cork over two-and-a-half miles would have suited but that didn’t work out.
“He was highly strung and we have sweetened him up and Sam (Curling) has improved his jumping.  Maxine (O'Sullivan) is top-class and gave him a great ride from the front."

Noel McParlan kept his northern title hopes alive when he teamed up with the Noel Kelly-trained Decor Irlandais to run out an easy winner of the Harte Peat winner-of-three geldings’ contest.

Second to Wrong Direction in the valuable €5,000 winners’ race at Dromahane last month, the French-bred regained the winning thread when he comfortably accounted for Puff My Pistons by four lengths to win his fourth race of the season.

The winning handler said: “It is great to get another winner for Noel (McParlan) and keep him in with a chance for the title. 
“He did that easily today and looked a different class.  He could run again in the open at Loughanmore next week”.
