Fennos Storm and Wrong Direction to clash at Cork

Fenno’s Storm heads a final field of nine runners for Sunday’s Buy Tickets Online and Save Hunter Chase at Cork Racecourse, the first hunter chase of the season.

Declan Queally’s Fenno’s Storm back-to-back Tetretema Hunter Chase winner at Gowran Park comes into the race fresh from his winning return to action, when dead-heating with Troytown Chase contender Mala Beach at Moig South.

Riche Deegan, who guided the eight-year-old to the latest of his Tetretema successes, will be back aboard.

Johnny Hurley and Seamus Spillane combined to success last Sunday, when Goulane Jessie, the first runner of the campaign for the Conna-based handler, got her head in front at Knockmullen House and they once again team up with Wrong Direction.

The nine-year-old was very unlucky not to open his account in hunter chase company when falling at Limerick last Christmas, and he has since gone on to win the €5,000 winners’ race at Dromahane.

It Came To Pass is one of two former track winners bringing previous course form into the racing having won the most recent renewal of the Jack Tyner Memorial last Easter, and he will be looking to get further than the opening fence, where he exited last Sunday at Dromahane on his seasonal re-appearance, and reigning ladies champion Maxine O’Sullivan will once again be in the saddle.

Oscar Contender is the other previous Hunter Chase winner at the Cork venue having beaten the re-opposing Macs Legend in a maiden contest at the venue in 2018 and Harry Kelly’s eight-year-old will once again have the assistance of James Hannon.

The line-up for the three-mile contest is completed by Dubai Daisy, stable companion of It Came To Pass, Louis Archdeacon’s Top Question and Aracaras, and the six-time winning pointer Sliabh Mhuire Lass.
