Race 1 - Costello Family 4yo Maiden
It often pays to follow a Pat Doyle newcomer in this race, with the Tipperary handler having sent out the winner of this race six times within the past decade. That leaves Petibonome as horse of real interest for this.
As always in races of this nature, the market will give a good guide as to what is expected of the newcomers.
Race 2 - Tattersalls Ireland 5yo Geldings Maiden
SUNSET WEST was a beaten favourite at Carrigarostig, but his Boulta effort on debut would certainly leave him as the one to beat. Here We Have It got no further than the first at Dromahane over Christmas, however before that he was only narrowly denied in a four-year-old maiden at Mainstown. With his stable in top form courtesy of a double last weekend, he is the obvious danger.
Cardboard Gangster is another with respectable four-year-old maiden form from the autumn, and he ran a solid race at Ballycrystal in a competitive Confined to entitle him to claims.
Race 3 - GAIN Equine Nutrition & Gort Co Op Mart & Macmahon Oil 5yo+ Mares Maiden
ROSE MILAN has gone close in each of her two outings to date, including when a fine third at Aghabullogue last month. This could well be an ideal opportunity for what would be a very deserving initial success.
Fashion Nova came from off the pace on her debut at Borris House to finish a promising fourth and she will be expected to step up from that, whilst Lisronagh fourth, Pay The Woman, and the 92-rated hurdler, Exit To The West, are others for the shortlist.
Race 4 - John ODonnell General Merchant & Clare Marts & Linnanes Lobster Bar Open
Despite only managing to finish third in this race last year when sent off as an odds-on favourite, BURNING AMBITION is once again the one to beat here, having finished second in the Aintree Foxhunters last April.
The Borris House open from December featured a number of his likely dangers who could all re-oppose, with Horendus Hulabaloo, Marinero, Foxtail Hill and Samanntom, finishing second, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in what was one of the races of the season behind last weeks Tyrella winner Eddies Miracle. Of the others, Sound Money has finished in the first two in each of his last four outings in open company to ensure he cannot be discounted on his re-appearance.
Race 5 - Kerry Co Op & The Pier Head Bar and Restaurent Winner Of One
SAINT BENEDICT came up against the smart looking Some Man in a Hunter Chase at Clonmel last month, and would not be winning out of turn here, despite not finding his way to the winners spot since landing a four-year-old maiden back in 2018.
Fill The Tank produced a big performance at Ballindenisk to make a winning debut and is the obvious danger, alongside the likes of Dowth Hall victor Kilgorey, and Morningside, a horse that can step up from an overdue maiden success at Boulta before Christmas.
Race 6 - Kilnacrandy Farm & Clare Road Tyres 6yo+ Geldings Maiden
The long absent ZIHUATANEJO chased home the 137-rated hurdler Champagne Platinum on his one and only outing to date which came at Quakerstown back in April 2018. Having bypassed a number of potential engagements since, that form looks strong if he can overcome the lengthy time on the side lines.
Creative Venture powered home late in testing conditions at Moig South in the Autumn to finish a close second. With the late faller, The Great White, offering a timely form boost at Tyrella last week, the Mahler gelding could go close for Brian McCarthy. We have seen One For The Road more recently, as he was only reeled-in in the closing stages at Aghabullogue last month, whilst The New Kid has been running well at Ballindenisk in recent outings.
