Vincent Halley considers Foxhunters for Arctic Skipper

Based just outside Kill, Co. Waterford, Vincent Halley has enjoyed what has been a very good season, having three winners from four runners, with those three winners coming from his veteran charge Arctic Skipper.

"Things are going well. Arctic Skipper has been very consistent in the open races, and we have some nice horses coming up to run in the spring. Things are looking good," said Halley.

"He (Arctic Skipper) is a very fragile horse, I suppose he's been lightly raced because of that. Even though he is 11, he doesn't have many miles on the clock."

Depending on ground conditions, Halley may cross the Irish Sea to Cheltenham next month and compete in  the Foxhunters with his former Fortria Chase winner.

"He possibly might run in another open, and obviously if it turned up soft we might consider the Foxhunters, but we'll have to think about it. It will be ground dependant."

Halley also has a number of promising horses to run in the coming months between the flags.

"I wouldn't have more than ten in at any time, we have mostly young horses. For the summer, I'd have a few handicappers in, a few youngsters and that."

"We have a four-year-old Shirocco gelding, his half brother won up the North on Saturday. He'd appreciate a bit of nicer ground, so he could be out in the spring, and we're looking forward to him.

"I also have a Milan gelding that I'd be hoping to run in the spring as well. He's progressing well.

"We have a four-year-old by Ocovango and Jet Away, and we'll probably be looking more at early next season for those two."
