Weekend Preview | Turtulla 08th March 2020

Race 1 - Susan Long 4yo Mares Maiden

Samcros Sister, a full sister to Samcro could make her debut here for Cormac Farrell and Douglas Taylor. She is by the in-form sire, Jet Away, and could be very interesting.

Colin Bowe and Denis Murphy are well represented in this contest and could be worth following, both have an excellent record in the age group in recent weeks. As always, at this time of the year, the market should prove the best guide to the remainder of the newcomers.

Race 2 – Meadowview Stables 4yo Geldings Maiden

COOLVALLA gets the nod on this occasion following his recent encouraging debut at Oldtown in mid-February, where he finished third to the well-regarded Supreme Jet.

The son of Westerner was beaten just eight-and-a-half lengths on that occasion, and that could prove good enough to see him make the frame today. Barrichello also made an encouraging debut at Kirkistown, he is bound to have his supporters, whilst the market should be a good guide to the rest of the newcomers.

Race 3 - David Harry Kelly 5yo+Confined Maiden

MONGOL EMPEROR has some very creditable runs to his name of late, and the Andy Slattery-trained gelding may be the one to beat given a reproduction of those efforts. His biggest danger looks to be the Harry Kelly-trained Carfax.

Race 4 – Tattersalls Ireland, Hotel Minella & Barne Accessories Ltd 5yo+ Geldings Maiden

BOURBON STREET finished a decent second to Magnificent Ben at Cragmore in mid-February, beaten just two lengths on that occasion, and he gets the nod to go one spot better this time around for the David O Brien yard. The most obvious dangers on paper look to be Mister Sweets, Wont Talk and Fully Authorised.

Race 5 - Shanaville Stables & Maharla Stables 5yo+ Mares Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

NO FAME NO GAME was defeated by a head behind Knockanora Damsel at Aghabullogue on her latest start. The Gerry Kelleher-trained daughter of Fame And Glory could well be able to go one spot better this time around. Her biggest dangers look to be Rachels Surprise, Cappajune Lady and Idsayso.

Race 6 - Equine Warehouse, Monbeg Stables & Dalton Transport Mares Winner Of One

CHAMPAGNE BEAUTY has been a model of consistency of late for the Patrick Fitzgerald team, finishing third in a winner-of-two contest on her latest effort at Boulta where she finished seven-and-a-half lengths behind the talented Aloneamongmillions. Her biggest dangers look to be The Forge Hill, Ringneill and Chenery.
