Race 1 - Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Maiden
BARRICHELO was an only ride for Jamie Codd at Kirkistown when he made his debut last month, and it may be notable that he made the trip to the Co. Down venue to be aboard the son of Gentlewave. With the Denis Murphy-trained four-year-olds in top form in recent weeks, he may offer the strongest of the previous form in this.
Elsewhere, of those with form, Coolvalla also made the frame at Oldtown, whilst track recruit Dinah Washington has a mark of 47 following six runs on the level for Michael Bell and will face a significantly different test here. Donnchadh Doyle has entered four horses and it is worth noting that he introduced promising types Bravemansgame and Thatsy to win the last two renewals of this race.
Race 2 - The Padge Berry and Moortown Stud 5yo Mares Maiden
This has quite an open look to it, and it may therefore be worth taking a chance on TIMEADAY if her Kilfeacle effort in testing can be discounted.
She had previously finished a close third at Tinahely before that, which would leave her with the strongest form in the book. Lady KK was not beaten far in her two most recent outings which would see her hold claims, whilst the newcomers may offer the best potential of the rest.
Race 3 - Slaney Foods 5yo Geldings Maiden
This is another race which has quite an open look about it, with IL COURRA perhaps the one to beat. He was no match for the subsequent sales topper Only The Bold in a very competitive maiden at Tyrella in January, and may be more at home around this course, having gone well here in November on his debut.
Sunset West came back closer to his best most recently, Grange Road was a short-priced favourite for his debut at Knockmullen House in the autumn when offering potential, and whilst disappointing at Ballycrystal subsequently, he cannot be discounted on his opening effort, but would have to overturn form with Blame The Game from Ballycrystal, with that horse an own-brother to the talented Spiritofthegames.
Race 4 - Hearne Line Marking Open 4yo+ (Banks Course)
STAND UP AND FIGHT was sent off as the leading Irish hope for the Foxhunters at the Cheltenham Festival 12 months ago, and whilst a return to Prestbury Park had seemed to be on the agenda for him earlier in the season, he now switches to the banks following a disappointing display at Thurles last month.
With his trainer synonymous with these unique races, he can step up from that seasonal re-appearance. Festival Opera is back to defend his title from 12 months ago, and whilst well beaten at Punchestown on his reappearance recently, he had not figured in that corresponding race en route to winning this last year, so it should not be a concern. Sizing Solution, Venitien De Mai and Better B Quick are others with form around here and certainly enter the equation.
Race 5 - Rostoonstown Stud Winner Of Two
Although without a recent run to his name, COSTALOTMORE brings winning course form into this race having won the five-year-old geldings maiden on the corresponding card 12 months ago, before going on to win at Courtown by a distance, and a fine effort in defeat at Cork in a point-to-point bumper.
Beatthebullet is another with winning course form having won around here in November, whilst the locally trained Mr Mantilla puts his unbeaten record on the line. Recent Nenagh victor Saint Benedict adds to a competitive line-up.
Race 6 - IRE Wel Pallets & INHS Committee 6yo+ Maiden
GENERAL RYAN acquitted himself well when returning from a lengthy absence, for what was also his stable debut, finishing a fine second at Tinahely a fortnight ago, having only been headed in the closing stages.
He could well go one better here. With the valuable mares allowance in her favour, Honest Opinion may the big danger having been narrowly denied when racing against her own sex at the same Tinahely fixture. Crio Cuervos has to bounce back from a disappointing run at Borris House last week, the same race that Icy Inferno finished second in. They are others with placed form in this alongside The New Kid.
