On what was the very last meeting at the historic Lismore course, the Tom Keating-owned and trained Shuil Luas initiated the opening leg of a three-timer for Pa King by capturing the Coolmore Stud winner-of-two.

Shuil Luas, already victorious this season at Ballindenisk in December, overcame quite serious interference five out to overtake long-time leader, Not Fou Sale, as the line approached to score by a head in what was the closest finish of the afternoon.

Keating intimated that Shuil Luas will continue to run in winners’ races.

King then combined with Sam Curling to collect the Coolagown Stud & West Waterford Hunt open aboard Lite Duties.

A former four-time track scorer for Charles Byrnes, the 11-year-old added to his successes at Aghabullogue and Kilfeacle in January by making virtually all of the running.

Whilst runner-up Deadheat touched down in front over the last, Lite Duties was back at the head of affairs within a matter of strides and he then asserted to beat Noel McParlan’s mount by eight lengths.

“This is a lovely horse and James King who rides him out at home said during the week that he was back to his best. He will now run in the ladies open at Durrow in a few weeks’ time,” said Curling of Lite Duties.

The Garrett Power-trained mare Dontlikethat brought up the King hat-trick by landing the Hornibrooks Garage and Jerry O’Keeffe Sawmills five-year-old and upwards unplaced maiden. Dontlikethat edged ahead after three out and she forged clear from the last to dismiss Reign Supreme.

“She’s a big backward mare that has just needed time. She likes an ease in the ground and will now go for a winners’ race,” said Power of the PJ McDonnell-owned Dontlikethat.

There was an amended result in the opening Tattersalls Ireland four-year-old maiden, as the winner Petibonome was disqualified for taking the incorrect course between the final two fences.

The Pat Doyle-trained Petibonome was clearly in command at the time of his faux-pas and he duly returned with 12 lengths to spare over fellow French-bred Galon De Vauzelle, trained by Liam Kenny for Harley Dunne.

Galon De Vauzelle’s rider James Kenny, son of Liam, was quick to lodge an objection.

The result was amended with Galon De Vauzelle, a son of Kap Rock out of a winning half-sister to French listed jumps winner Tresor De L’isle, being promoted to first spot with Eric Carmen moving up a place to second.

There was another French-bred winner in the Pegus Horse Feed (Pegus Qualifier) five and six-year-old geldings’ maiden as the Peter Fahey-trained Coastal World made a winning debut in the hands of Richie Deegan.

Coastal World, sporting the colours of Liam Kerrigan that also owns Brawler, picked up the running before two out and he then stayed on determinedly to account for Small Bad Bob by two and a half lengths.

“We think a fair bit of him as he has always been doing everything right at home,” said Fahey’s brother-in-law Andrew Leigh of Coastal World, a son of Coastal Path that was quickly added to tomorrow’s Tattersalls sale after racing at Cheltenham.

The long-standing alliance of Liam Burke and Tom Feeney combined to collect the Glanbia five-year-old and upwards mares’ maiden with ex-hurdler Trees Valley, who finished second on her points debut in the Tallow confined hunt four weeks earlier.

Trees Valley benefited from pacesetting duties by making all of the running to contain Imperial Attire by 12 lengths.

“Fair play to Tom [Feeney], he had a plan in mind for her and he gave her a smart ride from the front. She could now go back to the track for a hurdle, whilst I could also be tempted to run her in the GAIN Mares’ Final at Ballynoe,” said Burke of Trees Valley.
