Eamon Finn RIP

The well-known point-to-point handler Eamon Finn, who saddled many winners between the flags, has sadly passed away.

A native of Moigh in Longford, Finn sent out his final winner between the flags in the Confined Hunt Winners race at Castletown-Geoghegan in 2011 when Bob’s Allegiance ran out a three-length winner under Danny Foster.

The Bob’s Return gelding was completing a notable double for Finn that season, as his Castletown success followed a month after he had won the Confined Hunt Winners race at The Pigeons, two races targeted by handlers in the area each year.

Those two successes featured as part of a successful season for Finn, as it saw him end the pointing campaign with a 100% strike rate as all three runners were winners, having sent out Little Island to win the Confined maiden at Rockfield during the Autumn, also under Foster.

Following his passing at Mullingar Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Eamonn who is survived by his brother Jack and sister Carmel, was laid to rest following his funeral mass at St Matthew’s Church Ballymahon last Friday.

We extend out deepest sympathies to his family and wider circle of friends.
