Second to the subsequent £300,000 Cheltenham Festival Sale top lot Killer Kane on his most recent outing, Fabrique En France had his own moment in the spotlight when he was the top-priced point-to-point horse as the Goffs UK Summer Sale drew to a close on Wednesday.
Willie O’Doherty’s son of Yeats had already finished placed last year at Stowlin, and offered at Doncaster having finished second in that five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Ballycahane in March, he was bought by the father and son team of Aiden and Olly Murphy for £82,000.
Colin Bowe’s Red Lion Lad had been the star draw within the point-to-point section of the catalogue following his comprehensive 10-length debut success at Ballyarthur, however with the close relation of the eight-time Grade 1 winner Master Minded having cost €155,000 at the 2019 Goffs Land Rover Sale, he remains with the Kiltealy handler having been led out of the ring unsold at £135,000.
It was however another Ballyarthur winner that achieved the second highest price for a filly within the Horses in Training section of the catalogue when Karlie was knocked down for £42,000.
Out of a half-sister to the royally bred Grade 2 winner Locksmith, she was a three-length winner at the Cork venue for former rider turned handler Richard Harding and now joins Welsh National winning trainer Michael Scudamore.
Olly and Aiden Murphy also struck for the Shirocco gelding Thunder Rock, when snapping up Olivia Hegarty’s only runner of the season for £42,000 after he had chased home the aforementioned Red Lion Lad at Ballyarthur on what proved to be the final day of the season back in early March.
Elsewhere, Tom Malone secured Tom Costello’s Bellharbour third Lead The Pack for £40,000, whilst Without Conviction, who chased home Brown Bullet at Lingstown on her debut for Pierce Power, joins Lucinda Russell having been bought for £36,000.

“Three good days selling two categories of horse at one unique event. It was a long way from what we planned at the beginning of the year but the results were every bit as good as we could have hoped for and we would like to thank everyone who has participated at Doncaster this week – without you, this would not have been possible."
