Envoi Allen preserves unbeaten record with winning return

Envoi Allen outclassed his opposition to produce a faultless round of jumping on his first start over fences on the racecourse at Down Royal on Friday afternoon.

Always to the fore under Jack Kennedy, who was aboard the six-year-old for the first time in the Advanced NI Scaffolding Beginners Chase, the Muhtathir gelding began to show his superiority over his rivals early in the home straight and ultimately pulled six lengths clear over another ex-Irish Pointer in January Jets.

A two-time winner at the Cheltenham Festival, Envoi Allen remains unbeaten following his four-year-old success at Ballinaboola for Colin Bowe, with this a tenth success on the bounce and he now looks set to go in search of a fifth career Grade 1 with the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse looking his next likely target.

“That was Brilliant You loved the way he switched off and went by them, you just love his attitude. You couldn’t be happier,” said Elliott.

“Jack (said he popped away and he quickened after the second-last. That’s what he was bought for, he’s a chaser and it’s nice to get that out of the way.

“I imagine all being well he will go for the Drinmore at Fairyhouse.”
