Mahler Champion Point-to-Point Sire

The Beeches Stud in Co. Waterford is well renowned for standing some top-class sires, and Mahler is a name that has emerged in recent years for producing many winners both between the flags and under rules.

Mahler will take the prize of this years Leading Point-to-Point sire finishing on a total of 23 winners.  Seven clear of his nearest rivals Getaway (16) and Fame And Glory on 15.

Mahler had a very successful racing career, his principal performances include winning the Queen’s Vase Group 3 at Royal Ascot, The Classic Trial at Gowran Park and a competitive maiden at Leopardstown.  He was also 2nd in the Group 1 St Leger at Doncaster and finished third in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup.

One of Mahler’s stand-out winners this season was the Sean Doyle trained American Mike, who topped the sale at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Newmarket sale in April.

He was an impressive winner of a division of the four-year-old geldings maiden at Cork Racecourse when running out a 20 length victory in the hands of Jamie Scallan.

He was knocked down to Gordon Elliott and Noel and Valerie Moran for £195,000.

Mahler’s progeny won six four-year-old maidens, five five-year-old maidens, eight five-year-olds & upwards maidens and four open lightweights.
