The Sean Doyle trained The Forge Hill will be crowned this years Champion Point-to-Point Mare.
This award is based on ratings rather than wins and the daughter of Morozov ran to a mark of 97 at Ballycrystal back in October when defeating Sliabh Mhuire Lass and this was enough to secure her victory.
The Forge Hill won on three occasions this season, she won on her season debut when winning the winners of one contest at Monksgrange in the hands of Jordan Gainford.
She then re-appeared the following month at Ballycrystal, where she achieved her best performance to date when defeating the Paurick O’Connor trained Sliabh Mhuire Lass by two lengths.
The Forge Hill was very unlucky when coming down at the second last whilst still holding a strong advantage at Lisronagh.
The Monbeg Partnership owned mare bounced back to form with two decent performances in hunters chases when finishing 3rd at Cork and 4th at Tramore respectively.
The seven-year-olds final appearance of the season was at Stradbally where she put in an impressive performance when running out a six length winner of the Mares Open in the hands of Sean Staples.
There were four mares that finished the season on a mark of 95, these included; Rose Milan, Sliabh Mhuire Lass, Kind Witness and Bonny Dazzler.
