Kerry National Glory for Fitzgerald aboard Assemble

The highlight of day four of the Listowel Festival, the Guinness Kerry National was claimed by the Joseph O’Brien trained Assemble.

The son of Getaway put in a good performance to win when staying on strongly to defeat top weight Brahma Bull by two and three parts of a length.

Assemble started his career between the flags when finishing runner-up to Asterion Forlonge in his maiden at Oldtown for handler Eddie Hales.

The seven-year-old was guided to victory by former novice point-to-point champion rider Shane Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald who only joined the professional ranks earlier this year has already notched up 21 winners and currently lies fifth in the jockeys table.

He is proving very valuable for his seven pound claim.  He had a very successful career between the flags partnering 53 winners and crowned champion novice rider on two occasions.
