James & Hendrick Share Eastern Title

Jack Hendrick and Rob James will share the 2024 Eastern Title with both finishing on a total of 22 winners. 

Wexford natives Jack Hendrick and Rob James who both went into the weekend level on 20 winners a piece both had doubles at Stradbally on Saturday. 

Rob’s first winner of the afternoon came courtesy of Klub De Reve in the four-year-old auction maiden for Donnchadh Doyle. 

James then quickly followed up with a second winner of the afternoon when taking division two of the four-year-old auction maiden aboard the Sean Doyle handled Ultimate Survivor who ran out a two and a half victory over Elusive Shine and Jack Hendrick. 

Hendrick had to wait a little longer in the afternoon to get up his double, his first winner of the afternoon came courtesy of Mr Gower who took division two of the five-year-old and upwards unplaced maiden for Kilmore Quay handler Denis Moore. 

Hendrick quickly followed up on this success when winning the open aboard the Warren Ewing trained Jay Bee Why. 

It is a first region award for Hendrick who is a second cousin of Jamie Codd, his association with Cormac Doyle has really propelled his career.  Doyle also supplied the Wexford native with his first career success aboard You Bypass at Tinahely in November in 2018.

It is a first Eastern title for Rob James, who has won the Western title on two occasions and a Southern title once.
