Following the success of last seasons’  Cash Prize Award for NH Breeders, Dungar Quality Oats are delighted to announce that they will be repeating this award for 2025.  In addition, Dungar Quality Oats will also sponsor a cash prize draw exclusively for NextGen featured jockeys.

The €2,500 Cash Prize Award for NH Breeders will take a similar format to before, rewarding one lucky NH breeder of a top priced 4 or 5 year old mare that was bred and ran in Ireland and sold in either Tattersalls or Goffs Point to Point sales.

Those breeders who have bred a mare that meets a set of qualifying criteria will be automatically picked and entered for the prize.

2024 winner Hilda Rothwell who bred the sale topping priced filly Echoing Silence was delighted to see breeders recognised with this prize.

Speaking after her presentation last May, she said ‘It was a lovely memorable occasion with a reward that was greatly appreciated by the small breeder.’

Business owner Tadhg O’Leary of Dungar Quality Oats is also a breeder and as a supplier of horse oats to the equine market he understands the challenges that breeders face and says that the aim of his prize is to help encourage breeders to continue their hard work.

As a bonus for talented new Point to Point jockeys who feature in p2p.ie series of Next Gen articles, Dungar Quality Oats will sponsor a special draw where one of the riders will win a cash prize of €500.

All NextGen featured jockeys who have ridden their first point-to-point winner will be automatically entered into this draw.  The draw will be conducted and prize winner announced at the end of the point to point season.

Tadhg O’Leary, of Dungar Quality Oats says ‘I hope that the cash prize reward will help promote, uplift and encourage point to point jockeys who operate in a very competitive and sometimes difficult game’.

More details of both prizes are available on www.dungarqualityoats.ie and as the season commences tables listing potential winners will be created and updated with the overall winners being announced in May 2025.
