€6,000 bonus up for grabs for the winner of the GAIN Mares Series final

Now in its 35th year, the GAIN Mares Series will culminate in an exciting finale on Sunday, March 23rd, at Ballynoe Point-to-Point, Co. Cork. The winning owner will be awarded a €3,000 bonus, but there’s an exciting new incentive for 2025. The GAIN Mares Series winner will also receive a free entry into the Mares Bumper at Cork Racecourse on Easter Monday, April 21st.

On top of that, an additional €3,000 bonus from GAIN Equine Nutrition will be added to the Mares Bumper prize money, making the total bonus €6,000 if the mare goes on to win the Bumper. This added incentive ensures that the competition remains fierce and offers even greater rewards for the horses and their connections.

The final is highly anticipated, especially after the cancellation of last year's event, and the Ballynoe Point-to-Point committee is determined to make the GAIN Mares Series final a standout event.

Jimmy Mangan, Ballynoe Point-to-Point committee member highlights, “the course will be set up with the same level of attention and care as a top-tier racecourse, promising an incredible atmosphere for both participants and spectators. With the series having grown significantly over the years, this year’s event is shaping up to be even more exciting, especially with the added bonus of a €6,000 total prize if the winning mare goes on to claim the Mares Bumper at Cork Racecourse on Easter Monday. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a promising mare.”

The 2024/2025 point-to-point season has seen over 20 locally-run point-to-points across Ireland, with the GAIN Mares Series becoming one of the most eagerly anticipated events.

John Hore, Business Manager for GAIN Equine Nutrition, stated “we are incredibly proud to continue our support of the GAIN Mares Series, which has become one of the most important races in the point-to-point season. The new bonus for the Mares Bumper at Cork Racecourse is an exciting addition, ensuring that the competition remains at the highest level. Our commitment to supporting the grassroots of the industry is stronger than ever, and we look forward to another thrilling final. Best of luck to all connections involved!”

To qualify for the GAIN Mares Series final, mares must be maiden mares at the start of the current point-to-point season and secure a top 3 finish (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in any fixture throughout the season. With a €3,000 prize up for grabs, along with a free entry into the Mares Bumper at Cork Racecourse, the final is certainly shaping up to be one of the most exciting events of the spring racing calendar. It’s a highly anticipated opportunity for owners and connections of talented mares.
