Olly Murphy targeting Point2Rules bonus with April buy

ThoroughBid’s April Sale caught the eye of both Olly Murphy and Davide Pipe, who have both acquired new stock from racing’s online auction house.

Western Clouds (Lot 25), a promising recent Irish point-to-point winner by Cloudings, will join Olly Murphy’s yard having been signed for by Darren Dwyer. The horse could be a live contender for ThoroughBid’s £5,000 Point2Rules Bonus, awarded to eligible graduates of the ThoroughBid platform who go on to win on debut Under Rules.

Speaking about the new recruit, Murphy said: “We were delighted to pick up Western Clouds with ThoroughBid on Tuesday. She looks like a lovely filly and one we’re excited to campaign through the summer. She obviously qualifies for the £5,000 bonus, which is a fantastic incentive, so she’ll be aimed at a mares’ bumper or mares’ maiden hurdle – hopefully she can be lots of fun for her new owners this summer.”

Topping the sale was Old Bridge (Lot 46), secured for £20,000 by leading trainer David Pipe. The horse had only run on Friday (April 25), before being quickly entered into Tuesday’s (April 29) sale, underlining the agility and responsiveness of ThoroughBid’s digital format.

Syndicates and young trainers were also active in the market, with Deva Racing—a team that has enjoyed notable on-track success in recent months—adding winning Getaway chaser Pescatorius (Lot 36) to their string. Elsewhere, Max Comley secured Bebside Banter (Lot 29), continuing his growing investment in young National Hunt prospects, and once again leaving owner Dave Armstwong satisfied with the ease of selling with ThoroughBid.

James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: "This sale was another great example of how ThoroughBid can offer speed, simplicity and access to quality horses. To see a runner from Friday entered and sold by Tuesday is testament to how efficient the process can be for both buyers and sellers.

“It’s also exciting to have leading names like David Pipe and Olly Murphy, as well as successful syndicates like Deva Racing, continuing to engage with the platform, and we look forward to our next sale on Wednesday 28th May, for which entries close on Monday 19th May.”
