See Double Wins At 15

Ronan McNally enjoyed a day to remember at Hexham on Monday when his stable veteran See Double You won his tenth races at the ripe old age of 15.

The admirably tough son of Saddlers’ Hall was born in May 2003 and made his debut between the flags as a five-year-old. Trained by Eugene O’Sullivan he got off the mark on his fifth attempt when steered to victory by Ciaran Fennessy, who also happens to be a good friend of Ronan McNally.

Once handicapped under rules See Double You reverted to the Point-to-Point sphere where he won two confined races in the northern region, firstly for Brian Dougan and then for Ronan McNally who also rode him on these occasions. This successful partnership continued with McNally riding the gelding to a further two success while the gelding was in the care of Jeremy Woods and in January 2014 when McNally took out his own training licence the Northern trainer/rider steered him to a further three successes bring his tally to seven aboard the likable sort.

Having been placed on fourteen occasions, See Double You has also been ridden to victory by Paul Carberry and more recently at Hexham by Brian Hughes where he took victory in the three-mile handicap chase of a mark of 88. Returning from a layoff of 395 days at the age of 15 he is a credit to Northern based owner/trainer Ronan McNally.
