PREVIEWS

Weekend Preview | Toomebridge

Race 1: McBurney Transport 4yo Mares Maiden

Should ROBIN DES SIVOLA feature among the line-up for this season opening contest, she would be her handler Donnchadh Doyles only runner at the fixture, but the trip from Wexford could well be worthwhile having held every chance at Necarne in May when crashing out at the last. Panic Your Beat was also going well at Necarne when coming to grief and is sure to have her followers, along with the Colin Bowe team that includes placed performers Quivvy Lough and Subtle Quest. Juniper is an interesting newcomer that has to be respected.

Race 2: Dennison Commercials Ltd 4yo Geldings Maiden

BUSINESS MAN finished third on his debut at Largy behind a subsequent sales topper in Lecales Article having shaped with some promise on that occasion. That effort should certainly stand to him here around a course that can often favour a horse with previous experience. Braeside posted a number of solid efforts during the spring, and he could once again figure in the place battle, whilst Tinahely faller Going Solo is from a family that his handler Warren Ewing knows plenty about, having saddled his half-brother Ground Invasion to win four points.

Race 3: Albert Bartlett 5yo Geldings Maiden

DECOR IRLANDAIS only managed to finish one of his four point-to-point outings last season, however he seemed to take a big step forward on his second start in a bumper when only finding a Willie Mullins-trained newcomer too good at Kilbeggan in August. If he could translate that to his return between the flags, he could be the one to beat. Kinsale fourth Lough Derg Sunrise, and Boro Melody, who was not disgraced at Necarne in May, would look the likely challengers, as too would Donatello Mail, if bouncing back from disappointing outings following a promising debut.

Race 4: Dennison JCB Winner Of One

BLUE MURPHO is quite an unexposed sort in this company, with the wide-margin debut Dromahane maiden winner having only run three times to date, and this could be an ideal opportunity for him to an avenge his defeat at short odds at Curraghmore. The Noel Kelly-trained pair of Oscar Light and Decor Irlandais both hold alternative entries on this card, however as this race looks very open, they could give Blue Murpho most to think about.

Race 5: Roy Wilson Cars 5yo Mares Maiden

OSCAR LIGHT is a mare that has been sent off as a short priced favourite on each of her last three starts, however on each occasion that market support has yet to return a profit for her supporters. She has run well at both Largy and Necarne, and a maiden success is clearly expected of her. Perle Rose has also been defeated at short-odds in the past but will be hoping to get back on track following a below par run on her sole outing last spring, whilst Maliboo has switched yards over the summer and could be a contender on her first run for the Denis Murphy team, having gone close at Lisronagh in April.

Race 6: K & G McAtamney 6yo Geldings Maiden

Track recruit WEST BURMA had finished placed in a pair of summer bumpers when with Willie Mullins, and if he was to recapture those best efforts on his point-to-point debut, he would have to be strongly fancied here for the Colin McBratney yard. Fellow track recruit Okay Dokey has struggled somewhat of late but may improve for a change in yards on his return to pointing, whilst Brindacier Fatal may be of note on his return from a significant absence having finished second in a Tallow maiden in his younger days.
