Pointers on Track

Irish Pointers all set for day one at the Cheltenham Festival

Former Irish pointers hold a strong entry across tomorrows Grade 1 races at Cheltenham.

The Irish point graduate Angels Breath holds a strong chance in the Sky Bet Supreme novice's hurdle. The son of Shantou was second on his last outing in the Grade 2 novice's hurdle at Kempton at the end of February for Nicky Henderson.

The son of Shantou won his four-year-old debut at Moira last April for Pat Doyle and John Barry.
Hardline is another pointer to come out of Pat Doyle's yard. The Gordan Elliot-trained gelding is in with a chance in the Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy novices chase. The seven-year-old gelding finished up third on his last run in the Grade 1 novice chase at Leopardstown in early February.

The son of Arcadio won his four-year-old debut at Punchestown back in February 2016 for Doyle and Jamie Codd.

Former pointers Ornua and Clondaw Castle are in with a chance in this race too.

Give Me A Copper, Up For Review and Minella Rocco are three-point graduates that stand good chances in the Ultima Handicap Chase.

Give Me A Copper, trained by Paul Nicholls, was fourth in the handicap chase at Sandown on his first return to the track since November 2017. The son of Presenting won his debut at Athlacca in the five-year-old maiden for Donal Coffey back in May 2015.

Up For Review is another presenting gelding that is trained by the in-form Willie Mullins. The nine-year-old ran well to finish third in the Thyestes at Gowran in January. Up For Review won at Knockanard on his second point start back in February 2014 for John Costello.

Minella Rocco trained by Jonjo O'Neill was second in the Gold Cup two years ago. The Shirocco gelding was an impressive eight-length winner on his four-year-old debut in Horse and Jockey in March 2014 for John Nallen.

Irish pointers Mias Storm and Momella hold a chance in the OLGB mares' hurdle.

The former won on her last start in a hurdle race at Kempton in November for Alan King. The mare won her five-year-old debut by six lengths at Loughanmore for Stuart Crawford in April 2015.

Momella won three of her five starts last season, including this OLGB mares' hurdle at Cheltenham.  The daughter of Sholokhov won the five-and-six-year-old mares maiden at Kildorrery in February 2017 for Marie Harding.
