The three-mile, five-furlong BoyleSports Irish Grand National has received 110 entries, 28 of which belong to Gigginstown House Stud. The race, taking place on April 7th at Fairyhouse, hosts many current and former Irish pointers.
Fenno's Storm put up an impressive performance to win the Tetratema Cup for the second consecutive year at the beginning of March. The Declan Queally-trained gelding has enjoyed a successful season pointing in open races, including a win in Kilfeacle.
Ucello Conti has had a successful spring season this year. The son of Martaline has recorded two hunt chase wins in Navan and Thurles and a win in the open race at Aghabullogue. Simon Munir and Isaac Souede own the gelding.
The former pointer Rathvinden will take his chance on April 7th for Willie Mullins. The son of Heron Island won on his debut at Toomebridge for Ian Ferguson back in May 2013.
Mullins also holds an entry with the former pointer Killultagh Vic. The ten-year-old gelding was third on his point debut for Colin McBratney.
Gigginstown House Stud holds a strong entry of former pointers in this year's rendition of the Irish National including Alpha Des Obeaux, Hardline, Monbeg Notorious, Gun Digger, Outlander and Shattered Love to name a few.
Alpha Des Obeaux won at Tinahely for Jamie Codd and Gordon Elliott in March 2014. The gelding was second on his last run at Grade 3 level in Fairyhouse.
Elliot also trains the Irish point graduates Hardline and Monbeg Notorious. The former won on his first time of asking for Pat Doyle and Jamie Codd in 2016 while Monbeg Notorious succeeded on his second point start for Donnchadh Doyle back in May 2015.
Jury Duty, owned by the Sideways Syndicate, is another Irish point graduate trained by Elliot. The son of Well Chosen is coming off the back of a chase win at Down Royal last Saturday. The eight-year-old began his career under the guidance of handler JP Flavin coming third on his second point start in April 2015.
JP McManus's Jerrysback finished third in the Grade 2 National Hunt novices' chase at Cheltenham last week in testing conditions for Philip Hobbs. The gelding was successful on his fourth start in Irish points for Colin McKeever in 2016.
Ramses De Teillee will represent David Pipe in the National, the son of Martaline has been second on his last two outings at Grade 3 level. Colin Bowe began the French-bred geldings' racing career in Irish points winning at the second time of asking in Ballyarthur in 2016. David Pipe then purchased the gelding for £55,000.
