Imperial Monarch sires debut point winner at Monksgrange

The Colin Bowe-trained Cill Anna justified her favouritism when providing Imperial Monarch with his first crop winner on Sunday taking the four-year-old mares maiden at Monksgrange.

The €38,000 Derby sale graduate put in a fine display of jumping and battled to the line to secure victory over Who's The Boss by a head, with ten lengths back to third.

Ashleigh Murphy's Imperial View is another daughter of Imperial Monarch to impress, the bay mare finished second on her debut at Durrow earlier in March.

Their sire, a son of Galileo out of a half-sister to Oscar, stands at Beeches Stud this season for a fee of €2,500.

Oscar's notable progeny include Paisley Park, Grade 1 winner for Emma Lavelle and Andrew Gemmell and Quick Grabim, Grade 1 winner of the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle for Willie Mullins and Geraldine Worcester.

Purchasers of Imperial Monarch's first crop three-year-olds in 2018 included Highflyer Bloodstock, Colin Bowe, Sam Curling, Noel Meade, Ian Ferguson Venetia Williams, Tom Keating, Thomond O'Mara and Ana O'Brien.
