Watar sires Necarne winner on Saturday
Colin Bowe enjoyed a hugely successful weekend at Necarne recording five winners in total, one of which was the son of Watar, Rivers End. Ridden by Barry O'Neill, the chestnut took the six-year-old geldings maiden by a comfortable six lengths on what was his seventh start for the Kiltealy handler.
The sire, who stands at Moortown Stud, also enjoyed a winner in March when Brandy Pad secured the five-year-old geldings at Durrow for Caroline McCladin. The big bay subsequently went on to be sold for £28,000 the following month.
While the Peter Flood-trained Kilbrook finished a fine second on his four-year-old debut at Portrush. Stroud Coleman and Jonjo O'Neill purchased the gelding for £78,000 in April.
Last season, Drumlee Watar also recorded success for the sire when claiming the five-and-six-year-old geldings' maiden at Loughanmore in May. The impressive ten length winner for Sean and Noel McParlan went on to make £65,000 at the Cheltenham sales later that month.
