Wonderful Charm takes Stratford Champion Hunters Chase
Sam Waley Cohen steered the Paul Nicholls – trained Wonderful Charm to Success in the £25,000 Pertemps Network Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunters Chase on Friday evening.
Ran over an extended 3m3f the contest attracted a field of eight runners, with last years winner Chosen Dream amongst the line-up.
Third in this contest last season, Wonderful Charm – rated 159 at his peak, bounced back from a disappointing run in the Aintree Foxhunters to secure success here.
The veteran received a never say die ride from Sam Wahley Cohen who conjured a late run from the son of Poliglote, just getting up in the shadow of the post to see off Caryto Des Brosses by a neck.
Asockastar finished third under Cork rider Shane Quinlan, while Chosen Dream failed to defend his crown when coming home in sixth.
