The Willie Mullins’ trained nine-year-old Billaway took the Naas Hunters Chase for the second year running in the hands of Patrick Mullins.
The John Turner owned gelding was settled in the behind the leaders for most before taking up the running approaching the final fence. The pair stayed on gamely for a two and a quarter lengths victory over Staker Wallace.
The gelding made plenty of mistakes throughout but showed his true class when staying on gamely in the straight.
The nine-year-old was last seen when winning the Hunters Chase at Down Royal last month when running out a six and a half length victory over Winged Leader.
The son of Well Chosen will be seen next at the Cheltenham Festival where he hopes to go one better in the Cheltenham Foxhunters.
