Handy Headon lands Down Royal Hunter's Chase

Handy Headon scored his second success of the season after a slick display of jumping to land the C&C White Maiden Hunters Chase at Down Royal in the hands of Ben Harvey.

The 10-year-old son of Well Chosen, trained by David Christie, held a perfect position for most of the race and went on to score by three lengths to a battling back Earl Of Desmond and Jamie Codd back in second.

The eventual runner up and favourite looked the first in trouble turning into the straight, but kept on well for pressure to just fall short in the closing stages.

Ballyferris finished two lengths back in third with Michael O’Sullivan aboard for trainer James Lambe.

Ben Harvey has enjoyed a successful campaign this season registering nine winners to his name in point-to-points, hunter chases and bumpers and looks good value for his seven pound claim.
