IHRB Point to Point Stewards Enquiry Kildare (F) Point to Point Meeting Saturday 22 February 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr L.E. Williams, rider of Dalcassian Girl, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 5yo & Upwards Mares Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race andconsidered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that he had used the whip without allowing his mount at least three strides to respond.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr L.E. Williams for one Point to Point raceday.

Avondhu (F) Point to Point Meeting Saturday 22 February 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr R. Sugrue, rider of Malayalam (FR), placed first, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 5yo Geldings Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that he had used the whip without allowing his mount at least three
strides to respond.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr R. Sugrue for four Point to Point racedays.


The Acting Stewards interviewed Ms G. Benson, rider of Knockiel Synge, placed fourth, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of the Open Lightweight.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that she had used the whip without allowing her mount at least three strides to respond.

Having taken her previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Ms G. Benson for one Point to Point raceday.

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr P.J.Cawley, rider of Born By The Sea, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the Open Lightweight.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(g) in that he had used the whip with excessive frequency.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr P.J. Cawley for three Point to Point racedays.
