The entries are finalised and the catalogue is complete for the Tattersalls Cheltenham January Sale to be held at Cheltenham Racecourse after racing on Festival Trials Day, 24th January.
The catalogue features:
• 29 lots, all winners or placed in Irish and British point-to-points or under Rules
• 19 lots who won or were placed on their racing debuts
The catalogue can be viewed at www.tattersallscheltenham.com
The latest high-class entries include last weekend's smart Carrigarostig winner KIMAI, who is by the dual champion sire Walk In The Park, out of the Grade 2-winning hurdler Valyssa Monterg (Network) and from Sam Curling’s Skehanagh Stables. The five-year-old was third on debut in December and went two places better last weekend to win by an uncontested 5l under Derek O’Connor.
From the same Carrigarostig meeting comes Willow Tide (Crystal Ocean), winner of the gelding’s maiden for Aidan Fitzgerald and the Cobajay Syndicate.
Set to meet again on the Cheltenham sales ground are Jukebox Bess (Jukebox Jury), trained by Colin Bowe and debut winner of the Ballycrystal mares’ maiden, and her race day rival and runner-up, the Denis Murphy-trained Tintara (Crystal Ocean).
The well-bred Jukebox Bess is a half-sister to the two black-type winners and Grade 1-placed Tombstone and Tintangle.
Murphy's Ballyboy Stables is also sending the five-year-old gelding Sky Grove. He is by Order Of St George, and finished second in the geldings’ maiden at Ballycrystal.
The first and second-placed horses in last weekend’s Tattersalls Cheltenham-sponsored Young Horse Maiden at Sheriff Hutton will be journeying to the Cheltenham sale ring – winner Barito (Manatee), who is trained by Joe Hill, and Slay Girl (Blue Bresil), who is from Gina Ellis' G & T Racing team. Both horses were making their racing debuts at the Yorkshire track.
The only four-year-old in the catalogue is Tom Weston’s debut Exeter bumper winner Mortal Coil. From the same pedigree as Jukebox Bess and a son of Affinisea, Mortal Coil beat a field of 10 older horses and came home an impressive winner at the West Country track.
Lots will be stabled in the Charles Turner yard and will be available for viewing on Friday, 23rd January from 1.00pm and on Saturday, 24th January from 8.30am.
Printed copies of the catalogue can be collected at the sales office from the afternoon on Thursday, 22nd January.
The sale will take place in the Tattersalls Cheltenham sale ring and will commence after racing at 4.45pm on Saturday, 24th January
