Kildare native Neil Bashford hails from a family with deep racing roots, as his father Brendan is a well-known Bloodstock Agent, whilst his mother Barbara works for Goffs. Having made his pointing debut in 2015, the Kildare native, who rode for a time as a Conditional Jockey, enjoyed first success aboard Niall Madden's Pass The Ball at Bellurgan Park in April 2017. Returning to the amateur ranks and striking up an association with Joseph O'Brien, Bashford opened his rules account on the Gigginstown House Stud-owned Forged In Fire in a Bumper at the high profile Leopardstown Christmas meeting, getting the better of eventual Champion Bumper victor Ferny Hollow in the proccess.
