Waterford native Michael Sweeney got off the mark between the flags when teaming-up with one of his principal early supporters, Denis Ahern's Glorious Boru to land a Confined Maiden at Ballindenisk in May 2018. Since teaming up with Declan Queally ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, Sweeney has risen in prominance, becoming an internet sensation following his miraculous recovery from Queally's Ask Heather at January 2019. It was also Queally who provided him with a first track success, when Bothar Dubh won a QR Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel a month later.
