Eric Mellerick made his race-riding debut at Kilbeggan in June 2021 aboard the Johnny Hurley-trained Hucklebuck, with his first competitive appearance at a point-to-point coming that November at Turtulla aboard Lady Violet, a horse trained by his father Tom. Ken Budds provided Eric with his intial points winner aboard Curraheen Queen in February 2025, which was achieved whilst studying Business Infformation Systems at MTU in Cork.
