Aidan, the twin brother of amateur rider Billy Coonan, took part in the Pat Smullen Charity race for Cancer Trials Ireland in August 2024. Aidan made his point-to-pointing debut aboard the Tony Martin-trained Squire Ohara at Tattersalls in December 2024. It was Squire Ohara that provided Aidan with his first success when taking the novice riders older maiden at Loughamore in April 2025.
