Mikey O'Connor has established himself as one of the most senior jockeys in the weigh room, in a career which first saw success aboard Glitter Girl at Kilworth in Febuary 1999. Since then, O'Connor has claimed the Southern title on no fewer than three occasions - 2008, 2009 and 2013. The season-ending fixture at Grennan in May 2021 saw him become just the seventh rider to win 400 races between the flags when Terence Leonard's Lily Of Dromard took a division of the mares' maiden, whilst he surpassed Enda Bolger to become the fifth most successful rider in the sports history with a 414th point-to-point victory on Quarry Rocco at Liscarroll in March 2023.
