Irish point-to-point graduates recorded another successful weekend pointing in the UK with 29 winners on the board across eight different meetings. We take a closer look at some of the standout performances below.
BITTERLEY
BALLYBOKER BREEZE recorded a 20-length success in the mixed open at Bitterley on Saturday for Joanne Priest. The son of Gold Well was originally handled in Ireland by County Wexford man Liam Kenny finishing second on his debut point-to-point back in February 2014 under Mark Scallan.
The gelding fell on his next two starts in March of that same year before eventually getting off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the six-year-old geldings maiden at Monksgrange in the hands of Jamie Codd.
PENHURST
The Cynthia Woods-trained UKNOWWHATIMEAN secured his debut victory in the open maiden by a margin of 20 lengths for The Green Hedges Racing Club.
The son of Shantou started his career in Ireland with Warren Ewing just last spring, slipping up on his four-year-old debut at Taylorstown and pulling up on his final outing in Ireland at Loughanmore in the hands of Mark O'Hare.
The ladies open at Penhurst went to the former Irish pointer NI SIN E MO AINM for trainer/owner Alexandra Bell on his seasonal debut. Nick Kiely originally handled the son of Balakheri in Ireland back in March 2013 where the gelding ran three times.
His best result came at Borris House when finishing second in the five-year-old geldings' maiden under John Barry beaten a respectable five lengths by Another Brandy.
EDGCOTE
The mares' open maiden at Edgcote was secured by the Tim Underwood-trained MISS MASSEY by a comprehensive 12 lengths. This was the daughter of Mahler's first run in the UK for Underwood.
The former Irish pointer had previously been handled by Gerard Kelleher and was fourth at Ballyarthur in the five-year-old mares maiden this March.
MAIDEMORE PARK
CALL ME VIC recorded success in the conditions race for novice riders on Sunday for Sally Randell and Jane Tufnell. The Old Vic gelding was produced in Irish points by Adrian Maguire where he made a winning debut at Dromahane in the five-year-old geldings maiden back in May 2012.
The gelding later went on to win six times under rules in the UK for Tom George before Randell took over training duties this season.
REVENSBY PARK
The Martin Wanless-trained BIG MAN DOE secured his fifth UK pointing success on Sunday in the men's open at Revensby Park by a comfortable seven lengths. The son of Millenary ran in Irish points on three occasions for James Barrett early in the 2016/2017 season.
Later in the same season the bay gelding switched to pointing in the UK and has enjoyed three seasons under the care of Wanless to date.
